The first part of the course will focus on the technical vocabulary used to describe features of texts (novels, poems and films). The aim is to help students to develop the critical vocabulary necessary to analyze texts.
The second part of the course will focus on aspects of interpreting texts (novels, poems and films) and on the various theoretical approaches to texts used by critics. The aim is to help students to develop the skills necessary to evaluate texts.
The third part of the course will focus on the language used to write about texts (novels, poems and films). The aim is to help students acquire confidence in their use of critical language when writing about texts.
